Q. Why donate to SFFI?

A. Donating to Santa Fe Film Institute is a great way to support students, filmmakers, and the Santa Fe community. 

Q. What does my GIFT go toward?

A. Donations and memberships benefit New Mexico students, filmmakers, underserved communities, and Northern New Mexico. These funds support grants, mentorships, scholarships, free public events, educational programming like panel discussions and film workshops, and screenings and discussions with important artists, carefully selected for their creative or cultural work.

 

Q. What’s the difference between a donation and a membership??

A. Both donations and memberships have receivable benefits that connect SFFI supporters to SFiFF’s greater film community. You can learn more and become a member here. You can learn more about making a donation here

 

Q. What is the relationship between the Santa Fe INTERNATIONAL Film Festival (SFIFF) and Santa Fe Film Institute (SFFI)?

A. Santa Fe International Film Festival is a project of the Santa Fe Film Institute  each October, providing educational programming, special events and film screenings, filmmaker honoraria, and film awards in select film categories.

Q. How do I apply for Fiscal Sponsorship for my film?

Q.How can I tell  that my gift is making an impact?

A. SFFI uses its funds to provide student tickets, free public film screenings, educational programming, artist honoraria, and cash prizes in select SFiFF Award categories. Each year, SFFI is recognized by organizations like the National Endowment for the Arts, New Mexico Arts, as well as local charitable foundations, for its contributions to its community and the film industry.

Q. How do I donate to a specific project?

A. To donate online, please visit the “Projects” page to find the project you’d like to support and donate through that page. For donations made by check, include the project title in the memo line of the check. 

Q. Is my donation tax deductible?

A. Please consult with your tax advisor on the deductibility in accordance with the law. SFFI is a New Mexico Non-Profit Corporation under section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code with a federal tax identification code of 47-2057366. 

 

Q. How do I prove my contribution for tax purposes?

A. Santa Fe Film Institute provides an official letter recognizing your donation or membership. You can keep this printed letter as a receipt for your records.

Q. Can I donate proceeds from a fundraising event to SFFI?

A. Yes. With advance notice, SFFI can promote your fundraiser through social media or e-blast to help increase fundraising impact. Please email santafefilminstitute@gmail.com for more details.

Q. Is the Santa Fe Film Institute a school or a university? 

A. While SFFI provides educational programming and lectures, SFFI is not a school or University. SFFI does work with schools and Universities in the area to increase the impact of these programs.
